Finalists announced for 41st Annual Business Excellence Awards

30 local businesses and organizations have been named finalists across 10 categories for the Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming Business Excellence Awards. Categories include ‘New Business of the Year’, ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’, and ‘Innovation of the Year.’  These outstanding businesses will be celebrated, and winners will be announced at a gala event on November 22 at the River Rock Casino Resort.

MDA to provide advanced communications subsystems for Heinrich Hertz satellite

MDA, a Maxar Technologies company, has signed two contracts worth more than $15 million with OHB Systems AG and Tesat-Spacecom GmbH & Co. for multiple advanced communications subsystems that will be used on Germany’s Heinrich Hertz communications satellite.

The Liquor Depot and Liquor Barn in Richmond and six other locations in the Lower Mainland is partnering with alcohol delivery platform Drizly to provide a one-hour delivery service to its customers.

KPU Institute for Sustainable Food Systems receives major funding

Richmond-based Institute for Sustainable Food Systems, which runs out of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, has received a $238,000 grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to partner with First Nations to overcome challenges in accessing healthy food choices.
